LaserSoft Imaging is renowned worldwide as a pioneer in the field of scanner and imaging software. Physicist and visionary Karl-Heinz Zahorsky, who was involved in the very initiation of desktop imaging and color management, founded LaserSoft Imaging in 1986. A few years later LaserSoft Imaging became a consultant for Hell AG in the area of new desktop technologies for color processing and took over the distribution of Riplink, a system for connecting the Hell Chromacom image processing system to the Mac. A subsidiary was opened in Sarasota, Florida in 1997.

The core product SilverFast manages to regularly boast advanced technical innovations. Today, SilverFast is regarded as the worldwide standard software for scanners, serving both beginners and professional alike. The software is bundled by manufacturers like Canon, Epson, HP, Leica, Microtek, Pentacon (Praktica), Plustek, Quatographic, Reflecta, SAMSUNG, UMAX and others.

The SilverFast range of products includes software for scanners, digital cameras, printers and HDR imaging, as well as several specialized solutions. LaserSoft Imaging also produces very high quality targets for IT8 color calibration. SilverFast is the most successful scanning software, with over 2 million copies sold worldwide. In 2008 SilverFast was granted the EDP award for the “Best Color Management Software”.
